Is it true that I can achieve a 6-pack by doing countless repetitions of Ab Exercises?

Posted by James in NutritionFitness

The truth is everyone already has a 6-pack.  If you look at any anatomical charts, both male and female, you will see that the superficial abdominal region of the human body which we refer to as a 6-pack is made up of a muscle called the Rectus Abdominis.  There are three fibrous bands of tissue that run through this muscle which are called tendinous intersections and the separation of the muscle that these bands cause is what makes the 6-pack. Therefore, the truth in this statement is that yes, doing sit ups will be working your abdominal muscles and consequently the muscles will become both firmer and  more prominent, just as any other muscle in the body will with the correct exercise.  The problem that now exists is there is a layer or layers of subcutaneous fat that is covering the muscles and no matter how many sit ups you do, until that fat dissipates, no one will be able to see those muscles you have devoted so much time trying to build.
